By: Suhas BirhadeNALASOPARA: A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by two boys and the incident was recorded on video, which later went viral. The matter came to light after the video was circulated online.Tulinj police have taken both the minor accused into custody.The victim, who lives in Nalasopara East, had come into contact with one of the accused a 17-year-old boy on Instagram.On the afternoon of July 11, he messaged her saying he had an important matter and asked to meet. When the girl went to meet him, she was taken to a room in a chawl in the same area where another 17‑year‑old boy was present.The two boys raped her and recorded the incident on their mobile phones. They threatened to circulate the video and warned that they would kill the girl’s brother if she told anyone; because of these threats the girl remained silent.Subsequently the accused circulated the video.On August 15 the video was seen by the girl’s maternal uncle on his mobile phone. He immediately went to the girl’s home and on questioning the girl, she disclosed what had happened.The girl then filed a complaint at Tuljinkar police station.On the basis of her complaint, Tulinj police registered cases against both boys under sections 70(2), 65(1), 351(2), 351(3) of the BNS, section 66(e)(b) of the Information Technology Act, and under Sections 4, 6, 8 and 10 of the POCSO Act for gang-rape, threats and circulating obscene video.Both accused have been taken into custody.
