Ahmedabad: A Bapunagar builder on Friday filed a complaint with Adalaj police alleging that three men carrying baseball bats waylaid him in Zundal on Thursday evening and threatened to kill him unless he paid Rs 2.5 crore over a land agreement. The 34-year-old complainant said he was driving home from Satyagrah Elevate around 6.15pm when a black car overtook his car near Signor Heritage and stopped in front of him.According to the complaint, the car had no front number plate. A man carrying a baseball bat got out, approached the driver’s side and tried to open the door. When it remained locked, he allegedly slapped the window. Another man, also carrying a bat, allegedly struck the bonnet. The builder said he lowered the window slightly, following which one of the men abused him and claimed to have a 2020 agreement to sell land linked to the builder’s project. The man allegedly demanded Rs 2.5 crore and threatened to kill the builder if he did not pay. He also allegedly threatened to come to the project site the next day and damage it.The builder said he tried to reverse but found another car behind him. Three to four men were inside, according to the complaint, and one allegedly got out and slapped his car. The first car then left towards Adalaj. The builder called 112 before approaching police. The complaint also refers to an Aug 1 meeting at the project site, where the builder alleged that the same men, accompanied by two others, demanded Rs 2.5 crore over an old agreement with the original landowner. The builder said he refused and told them to recover the money from the farmer who had received it. Adalaj police booked the accused for criminal intimidation and other offences under BNS.
