Sal locals urge govt to fast-track reconstruction of primary school

Bicholim: People of Sal have urged the education department to fast-track the reconstruction of Govt Primary School so that students can return to a permanent, full-fledged campus instead of continuing in a rented premises.Meghshyam Raut, a local, said for the past four years, about 69 students have been studying in a rented building, in a single congested classroom after the old school structure was demolished for a proposed new building. He said no reconstruction work has started yet.Raut alleged the rented premises are cramped and unsuitable for learning, making it difficult for students and teachers to function effectively. He also claimed the current arrangement is worse than the earlier school building, which primarily had roof-related issues, and said roof repairs could have served as a temporary solution.Villagers have appealed to the education department to intervene and start the work without further delay to provide students proper infrastructure and a healthier learning environment.
