Ahmedabad: A woman from eastern Ahmedabad approached the Abhayam 181 helpline after her estranged boyfriend allegedly threatened to make their private pictures public if she ended their relationship.“The woman told us that she works with a city-based company. She came in contact with the man three years ago, He was working on contract with the civic body and also doing job at a spa. They developed relationship and also decided to get married. However, his job and his angry nature caused frequent altercations,” said a counsellor.The woman told the counsellors that she even repaid the man’s loan and stopped giving money to her own family. However, she alleged that he continued to exploit her. Tired of the relationship, she decided to end it and blocked his number.The man then allegedly threatened to upload their pictures on social media.“The team approached the man and apprised him of the legal options the woman can exercise. The man agreed to delete all the pictures they had and not to harass her in future. The woman said that she did not want to press any charges,” said the counsellor.
