Kolkata: A 39-year-old man died after allegedly falling from a seven-storey residential building located in Kankurgachhi on Tuesday, triggering an investigation whether he has died by suicide or an accidental fall.The deceased has been identified as Birendra Bahety (39), a trader, was a resident of Narkeldanga Main Road.According to cops, the incident was reported around 7.05 am within the jurisdiction of the Phoolbagan PS. “Bahety somehow plunged from the upper floors of the seven-storey complex and landed on the roof of the first-floor community hall. The severe impact caused multiple critical injuries,” said a local security guard.Emergency responders and local police rushed to the scene immediately upon being alerted. Bahety was taken to NRS Medical College & Hospital, where he declared brought dead on arrival.The Phoolbagan PS has registered a case of unnatural death based on preliminary reports. Investigating officers are currently examining the spot and interacting with family members and neighbours to ascertain whether the drop was accidental, deliberate, or involved any foul play. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
