Bicholim: After two women headed to the Karapur protest site were injured in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday evening, the protesting villagers alleged that the incident was an intimidation tactic.The accident occurred near Shree Shantadurga temple at Karapur in Bicholim. The injured, Usha Morajkar and Anju Salgaonkar, both residents of Karapur, were on their way to the site where villagers have been protesting the proposed mega housing project.Both women were rushed to a nearby hospital and reported to be in stable condition.Bicholim police visited the accident spot and conducted a panchanama. They have initiated an investigation to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident through CCTV footage.Meanwhile, protesters alleged that the incident was intended to create fear among residents ahead of the Karapur gram sabha scheduled on Sunday.
