‘Har Ghar Tiranga’: State to distribute 70L national flags, CM to participate in grand rally
The CM also said he would also take part in a Tiranga Yatra on Friday from Bhowanipore Survey Building to Hazra crossing

Kolkata: The state govt will participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign for the first time this year, with 70 lakh national flags to be distributed across all districts and subdivisions, chief minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Thursday.Announcing the programme, Adhikari said the campaign will begin on Aug 9. “For the first time, the Bengal govt has joined the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The total of 70 lakh national flags will be distributed across all districts and all subdivisions. Tiranga rallies will be organised across the state, while several locations will be illuminated with the tricolour. Cultural programmes will also be held on the ocassion,” he said.Adhikari said that a grand rally will be taken out in Kolkata on Aug 10 at 3 pm, starting from the Netaji statue on Mayo Road and concluding at Birla Planetarium. “I appeal to everyone to participate. I, along with my entire cabinet, will join the rally. Around 50,000 people are expected to participate and nearly 30,000 have already expressed interest,” the CM said.The CM also said he would also take part in a Tiranga Yatra on Friday from Bhowanipore Survey Building to Hazra Crossing. “Several thousand people are expected to participate,” he said, adding that the entire route would resonate with chants of ‘Vande Mataram’.Adhikari said he did not know why the previous govt had not participated in such national events. He also said he has received an invitation from Akashvani to deliver an address on the ocassion.
