NEW DELHI: LPG prices for 19-kg commercial cylinders were cut by Rs 183.50 on Wednesday, bringing relief to restaurants, hotels, dhabas and other businesses.With the revision, effective July 1, the retail price of a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been reduced to Rs 2,930.Oil marketing companies have also lowered the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder by Rs 13. Following the revision, a 5-kg FTL cylinder in Delhi will now cost Rs 808.50, sources said.The latest reduction comes after a series of revisions in commercial LPG prices in recent months. In June, domestic LPG prices were increased by Rs 29 per cylinder, taking the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs 942 from Rs 913.Oil marketing companies had also raised LPG prices by Rs 60 per cylinder on March 7 following disruptions in global energy markets linked to the conflict in West Asia.In April, commercial LPG cylinder prices were increased by Rs 195.50 across metro cities amid tensions in West Asia. Following the revision, the retail price of a commercial LPG cylinder stood at Rs 2,208 in Kolkata, Rs 2,031 in Mumbai and Rs 2,246.50 in Chennai.Earlier, in January, oil marketing companies had raised the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 111, taking its retail price in Delhi to Rs 1,691.50. The price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinder was also increased by Rs 27 with effect from January 1.The latest reduction is expected to ease operating costs for restaurants, catering services and other businesses that depend heavily on commercial LPG cylinders.
