Pune: Swargate police registered a case against a Lohiyanagar resident for allegedly cheating a casual worker from Gultekdi of Rs1.68 lakh by promising jobs for the complainant’s wife and son with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).The alleged cheating took place between March and Dec 2024. The complainant approached the police last week, and a case was registered on Sunday.According to the police, they met through a common friend. The suspect claimed that he had good connections with senior PMC officials and promised to secure jobs for the complainant’s wife and son.Police said the suspect demanded between Rs80,000 and Rs1 lakh for each job. And allegedly collected Rs 1.68 lakh. In Jan 2025, the suspect handed over fake appointment letters to the complainant. However, when the complainant’s wife and son visited the PMC office, they were informed that the letters were fake and fabricated.
