Ketan Agarwal’s mother makes emotional plea
PUNE: As investigators recreated the alleged murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort and uncovered fresh details, the victim’s mother on Saturday renewed her demand for the harshest punishment, saying that although Siya also has a mother, she wants the death penalty for both the accused if they are found guilty.“I want justice for Ketan, and I want the death penalty for Siya. I am a mother, and Siya has a mother too; yet, I want the death penalty for Siya and for Chetan.” Rakhi Agarwal said.Her remarks come at a time when the investigation into the alleged murder of the 26-year-old realtor is underway and both Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary remain in police custody.The case has witnessed emotional reactions from both families. Earlier this week, Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, had also demanded the harshest punishment if her daughter was found guilty.“If anyone is at fault in this, they should be given the harshest punishment. Even if it includes my daughter. If my daughter is found guilty, then she should be thrown from the same place where Ketan was thrown,” Siya’s mother, Pooja Goyal, had said.Police have alleged that Siya Goyal and her friend, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort on June 18.Investigators claim the two planned the murder after Siya allegedly became unwilling to go ahead with the marriage and remained in close contact in the months leading up to the incident.The fresh developments in the case coincide with investigators claiming that Siya had spoken to her brother before her engagement to Ketan and had expressed that she was unable to find a way out of the marriage.However, according to the probe, the engagement went ahead after discussions within the family.Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain under investigation in the case, with Pune Rural Police continuing to examine the sequence of events, digital evidence and witness statements as the probe progresses.
