Shopkeepers and vendors observed a half-day closure of their business in solidarity with the fire affected vendors
Vasco: Nearly 300 shopkeepers from the Mormugao municipal market and surrounding areas shut their establishments for half a day on Friday to express solidarity with vendors who lost their livelihoods in the fire at the modern market complex late on Wednesday night.Accompanied by the affected vendors, the shopkeepers offered prayers at Shree Damodar temple and other religious places for the well-being of those affected. The shopkeepers also urged govt to expedite the compensation process and ensure that financial assistance reaches the affected traders at the earliest, enabling them to recover from their losses and restart their businesses.
