Colva: Additional Sessions Judge Sudhir S. Shirgaonkar convicted two Jharkhand natives for the murder of a fellow migrant worker following a drunken brawl in South Goa in Aug 2020. The case has been posted to July 6 for arguments on the quantum of sentence to be imposed on the convicts.According to the prosecution, the incident took place on the night of Aug 31 at Damon in Raia, when three men from Jharkhand got into a heated altercation while under the influence of alcohol. During the fight, 21-year-old Eddison Sorang sustained grievous injuries after he was allegedly assaulted with stout wooden sticks by Pradeep Dungdung and Anand Basha. He was rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC) for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Following an investigation, Maina-Curtorim police arrested Dungdung and Basha. After examining the evidence and witness testimonies, the court found both accused guilty of murder.
