Pune: NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule on Thursday said that instead of focusing on governance, the party governing PMC and BMC is busy breaking up other parties and spending on advertisements. She was criticising the BJP over waterlogging in Pune and Mumbai after the first monsoon rain this week.Supriya said, “When the BJP was in the opposition, it would criticise NCP for Pune’s infrastructural issues and Shiv Sena for Mumbai’s issues. However, now that it is governing both PMC and BMC, the situation has worsened in both cities. When they (BJP) are governing both municipal corporations, they should focus on improving infrastructure but they are busy breaking up parties and families and spending on advertisements,” she added.Refuting speculation of a split in the opposition after some MLAs skipped a meeting called in Mumbai on Wednesday, Supriya said, “Our party’s MLAs informed us about their prior engagements. Similarly, Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders would know about their MLAs. MLAs from both sides have skipped assembly sessions.”After six of its MPs joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (UBT) urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla not to accord separate recognition to the rebels. Reacting to this demand, Supriya said, “Our party has gone through the same experience. Sharad Pawar is the founder of the NCP but was removed from the post of party chief. I do not have much hope that the decision will go in favour of Shiv Sena (UBT).”
