MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has described the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as the “Congress Jitao Party”, alleging that the outfit is being used to fill a political vacuum and benefit the Congress. The CJP has announced a demonstration in Mumbai from October 2, demanding the removal of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In an interview with a media channel, Fadnavis said a political vacuum had emerged and the Congress lacked the strength to fill it. He alleged that organisations without a political “baggage” were being used to fill that space.“This was done before the Lok Sabha elections when 189 ultra-left organisations came together during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. They built a narrative which benefited the Congress. We broke that narrative during the assembly elections,” Fadnavis said.Fadnavis alleged that the Congress and the CJP followed a similar modus operandi of using the Constitution while simultaneously attacking institutions established under it.“Their modus operandi is to take a copy of the Constitution and defame institutions built by the same Constitution,” he said.“They do not believe in the Constitution, defame institutions and create anarchy,” Fadnavis alleged. He further claimed that the Congress and the CJP were seeking to bring “ultra-left communism” into the country and said B R Ambedkar had warned that such an ideology would destroy the Constitution.
