THANE: The Thane Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) has arrested a Bhojpuri actor for allegedly operating a sex racket in the city.Two women allegedly being pushed into prostitution were rescued during the operation.According to police, the action was taken following specific intelligence received by senior police inspector Anjali Aandhle about the alleged involvement of the actor in flesh trade activities.Acting on the information, an AHTC team laid a trap in the Padwal Nagar area of Wagle Estate on Sept 26. The accused was intercepted around 3 pm while she was allegedly attempting to push two women into prostitution.Police said the accused has worked in multiple Bhojpuri and Hindi films and has also appeared in more than 10 web series on various digital streaming platforms.The two women were rescued during the operation, while the actor was taken into custody for her alleged involvement. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections along with provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
