NEW DELHI: At least one person was killed and another injured after a speeding white-coloured i20 car hit an autorickshaw and a rickshaw near Delhi’s Sukhdev Vihar Metro Station on Saturday morning.The collision occurred around 100 metres from the metro station. The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.Police said the i20 driver abandoned the car at the spot and escaped. Efforts are being made to identify and trace the driver as part of the investigation.A witness at the spot said the incident happened around 6.30am when two cars were allegedly racing. The white i20 first hit an auto-rickshaw and then crashed into a rickshaw that was passing through the area, the witness said.According to the eyewitness, the driver got out of the car after the collision and fled in another vehicle with his associates. There were around three to four people in the car, the witness said.The eyewitness, who runs a tea stall near the accident site, said he was at his shop when the collision took place.Police reached the spot after the accident and began examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. The damaged vehicles were also inspected as part of the investigation.CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area is being examined to identify the driver who fled and establish the sequence of events leading to the collision. Further investigation is underway.
