KALYAN: The mother of dismissed police constable Shailesh Patil, who is on the run in connection with a gang-rape case, has demanded the death penalty for her son, saying he should face the harshest punishment for the alleged crime.Speaking at a press conference in Kalyan on Thursday, Sulochana Patil said she did not want to defend her son and believed he should be punished for his actions.Sulochana alleged that her son had gone astray during his years in the police force while trying to protect an IPS officer. She claimed that he was subsequently jailed in connection with the matter, where he developed associations with criminals.According to her, several criminal cases were later registered against him and he was eventually dismissed from the police force.She also levelled allegations against her son over a property dispute, claiming that he had assaulted her and threatened her with a revolver before allegedly getting her land transferred in his name. She said she was now fighting a legal battle against her own son and had been forced to stay at her daughter’s house.Meanwhile, in the same case, a Bhiwandi additional sessions court on Thursday reserved its order till September 28 on the anticipatory bail plea of former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar.Additional sessions judge N K Karande heard arguments for around 30 minutes on Thursday. Padgha police opposed the bail plea, saying custodial interrogation was required to recover evidence.Police told the court that the DVR of CCTV cameras installed at the farmhouse was missing and needed to be recovered. The investigating team also sought seizure of the car allegedly used in the incident.Pawar’s lawyer argued that the woman was in a consensual relationship with his client and produced chat records before the court. The defence claimed that she later made certain demands that were not fulfilled and that she had visited Pawar’s residence for Ganpati darshan after the alleged incident.The lawyer argued that the case was registered after her demands were not met.The defence also alleged that the woman had recorded a video to implicate Pawar but had not called the police or anyone else for help.The investigating officer disputed this, telling the court that the farmhouse gate operated through a remote control and that the woman knew she could not leave on her own. The officer said she had tried to seek help by phone but there was no mobile network at the farmhouse because of a jammer.Pawar and Patil have been booked under gang-rape provisions and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
