Palghar: A woman climbed a 50-foot-high tension tower near Tansa river in Uchhat village of Wada taluka on Tuesday evening after her married lover allegedly refused to marry her. The woman remained atop the tower for nearly two hours before police managed to bring her down after her lover assured her that he would marry her.The incident occurred around 4 pm, when the woman climbed the high-tension tower located near Tansa river. Her family members and police rushed to the spot and tried to persuade her to climb down, but she refused to listen.According to police, the woman was allegedly in a relationship with a married man from the same village. She was insisting that he leave his wife and marry her. She also threatened to jump from the tower if he refused to marry her, leaving the police and her family members in a difficult situation.The woman’s lover was subsequently brought to the spot. After he assured her that he would marry her and leave his wife, the woman agreed to come down.Police then managed to safely bring her down from the tower, bringing the nearly two-hour-long standoff to an end.
