Surat: Surat Rural police have arrested seven people in connection with the death of Amish Patel, a resident of Saroli village, who died in a road accident on the night of Sep 12 while travelling from Pinjarat to Saroli.According to police, the incident occurred after a minor collision near Dihen village. Following the accident, a group of people gathered and confronted Patel. Fearing that he would be assaulted, Patel sped away in his car. Police said he was chased by the accused in two cars and several motorcycles. During the chase, he lost control of the vehicle and met with a fatal accident near Ariyana village.The arrested accused have been identified as Divyesh Patel, Shirish Patel, Paresh Patel, Jashwant Patel, Nil Patel, Jigar Patel and Paresh Patel, all residents of Surat city.The arrests followed an investigation led by police inspectors Chetan Jadav and L D Odedara. Police have booked the accused under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
