Ahmedabad: Recent spells of rain have damaged roads in Gota and Ghatlodia. The road near the crematorium in Gota ward has frayed and is causing severe hardship to people travelling through the area.Rain has caused cave-ins near Memnagar lake and Manekbaug Crossroads, and on the stretch heading towards Shyamal Crossroads.Nilesh Patel, deputy municipal commissioner of North West Zone, said: “Work on the road from Stavan Ample to Anutham Crossroads up to the Gota crematorium main road has been approved by AMC’s road project department.”Patel said that the left carriageway from the central verge between Stavan Ample Crossroads and Anutham Crossroads has been completed up to the DBM (dense bituminous macadam) level.“For the remaining road stretch, the laying of the rising main line for the STP pumping station built near the LC-3 underpass has been completed,” he said. “The remaining roadwork will now be undertaken. Wet-mix and patchwork repairs have been carried out periodically on this road.”
