Six held for hacking 26-year-old man to death in Maval
The murder was the fallout of an old dispute between the victim and the accused

Pune: Six men were arrested and two minors were detained on Sunday for allegedly hacking a 26-year-old man to death over an old dispute in Varale village, Maval taluka.The Talegaon MIDC police identified the deceased as Prashant Shingade, a resident of Varale. The accused have been booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.An officer from the Talegaon MIDC police said Shingade was murdered around 1.30 am at Shikshak Colony in Varale, where he had stopped to have tea with his friends. The accused arrived at the spot and assaulted Shingade with sharp weapons, causing injuries to his head, chest, back, and hands. “The accused then bludgeoned him to death with large stones and fled the scene,” the officer said.Personnel from the Talegaon MIDC police and the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch traced and apprehended the six men and their two minor accomplices.“The murder was the fallout of an old dispute between the victim and the accused. The victim had a prior criminal case registered against him, and two of the accused also have criminal records,” the officer added.
