Gujarat CM: Make yoga part of your everyday life

Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel appealed to citizens to make yoga a part of everyday life and not just a one-day practice. He was speaking at a state-level event organised in Mansa on Sunday to mark International Day of Yoga. He said that yoga is capable of providing the strength required for nation-building and helping realize the goal of a developed country by 2047.The CM said the 12th International Yoga Day coincides with 12 years of Modi as PM, and that, as a result of the PM’s efforts, yoga has gained widespread acceptance as a means of preventive healthcare.Apart from the main event at Mansa, yoga sessions were held at 330 locations across the state. More than 1.25 crore citizens participated in these sessions, the govt said on Sunday.The CM praised the Gujarat State Yoga Board for connecting over 8 lakh people with yoga in one year through 5,000 free classes across the state.He said the Rajkot Municipal Corporation has signed an MoU with the board and adopted the innovative ‘15-Minute Yoga City’ concept, ensuring that a yoga centre is accessible within 15 minutes from anywhere in the city. In Ahmedabad, the AMC held events attended by mayor Hitesh Barot, deputy mayor Anju Shah and other civic body representatives.
