Surat: Six textile businessmen were caught consuming liquor at a studio apartment within the limits of Dumas police station early Monday after police acted on specific information about a booze party on Dumas Road.According to police, a team raided an apartment in Rajhans Belizza near the Silent Zone area. The raid was conducted at a studio apartment in B Tower of the residential complex after officers received a tip-off that a liquor party was underway.During the operation, police found six persons drinking inside the apartment and recovered 14 bottles of liquor, estimated to be worth around Rs 1 lakh. Police said the men had brought the bottles to the flat for self-consumption.In addition to the liquor, police also seized eight mobile phones valued at about Rs 4 lakh and a car worth approximately Rs 5 lakh. The total value of the seized items has been pegged at nearly Rs 10 lakh, police said.“The accused have brought the bottles to the apartment for self-consumption. It seems the bottles are purchased from duty free shop on airport,” a police officer said.Police are examining the source of the liquor and verifying purchase details.Dumas Road properties have become a favourite spot for organising parties where prohibited material is served due to its location away from crowded city areas, easy access and limited movement of people.Police raided a party at a farm in Dumas on Sunday and booked 21 people. In the past too, parties have been busted by cops following specific information.
