Panaji: Club Mahindra resort has denied allegations that its Assonora property is polluting the Par river at Moitem, after the Goa human rights commission sought reports from govt authorities and the resort following complaints of severe pollution.The commission is hearing a petition alleging that multiple constructions along the Par riverbank are contaminating the river, a key source of drinking water for Bardez taluka.“We categorically deny that our resort in Assonora discharges untreated waste water into the Par River. These allegations are factually incorrect and have no basis,” Club Mahindra said in a statement on Thursday.Club Mahindra said that a sanitary inspection was conducted by the directorate of health services after complaints were received, and officials reported that no such issues were observed.According to the resort, the inspection noted that the property has a functioning sewage treatment plant, no direct release of waste from the resort was observed, and there is no current sanitary issue linked to the resort.The company also said it follows established protocols for treatment, handling, and disposal of wastewater and sewage in line with environmental laws and regulatory requirements, supported by documented records.“We remain committed to environmental responsibility and transparency and will engage constructively with the relevant authorities on any concerns regarding the resort’s operations,” the resort said.
