Ahmedabad: Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd has commissioned 52.8MW of wind power capacity at Dayapar in Gujarat, marking its entry into the state and the second phase of a 99MW wind project being developed for Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL).The project, comprising 16 wind turbines, began commercial operations on July 30 after securing the required regulatory clearances, the company said on Wednesday. The commissioned phase represents an investment of about Rs 385 crore. It is part of the Rs 725 crore earmarked for the entire 30-turbine, 99MW wind facility in Gujarat. The overall 315.6MW solar-wind hybrid project for JSL involves an investment of more than Rs 2,000 crore, including Rs 132 crore from JSL.The hybrid project comprises 216MW in Madhya Pradesh and 99MW of wind capacity in Gujarat.The company said the Dayapar facility complies with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023, the Central Electricity Authority’s technical standards for connectivity and communication, and safety regulations, making it ready for commercial operation.Managing director and CEO Siddharth Bhatia said the commissioning marked Oyster Renewable’s entry into Gujarat and moved the state project closer to full completion. He said the fully operational facility is expected to avoid nearly 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually.The remaining 14 turbines are expected to be commissioned in phases, taking the Gujarat wind facility to its full 99MW capacity.
