Pune: A police van heading towards Shivajinagar police headquarters from Swargate, hit three cars and two motorcycles at Deshmukhwadi in Sadashiv Peth at around 10.30 pm. Vishrambaug police said that the police constable, who was driving the van, was drunk.Inspector Navnath Jagtap said, “The van driver’s medical test was conducted and the report confirmed he was driving in an inebriated state. The van was taken to the Swargate area for bandobast. After the Swargate work was done, the driver, who is posted with the Motor Transport Department of Pune city police, found congestion on the main roads. To avoid the traffic, he pulled the bus into a narrow lane in Deshmukhwadi and hit three cars which were parked on the road and then hit two motorcycles, damaging them. No one was injured in the incident.”
