Pune: A 37-year-old farmer allegedly shot his friend inside a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) in the early hours of Monday at Jadhavwadi in Chikhali.The victim, Ravi Ghogare (26) of Jadhavwadi, suffered a bullet injury to his stomach. After receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, Ghogare lodged a complaint against his friend, Swapnil Jadhav, and the latter’s driver, Roshan Pingle (28), both of Jadhavwadi.Chikhali police arrested the duo later in the day under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.Inspector Amol Phadtare of Chikhali police said the attack was the fallout of a monetary dispute between the two friends. “According to the complainant, they were travelling in the MPV of the accused around 2am on Monday. Jadhav started arguing with Ghogare over an old monetary dispute and took out his firearm. He fired a round at Ghogare inside the MPV.”Ghogare suffered a bullet injury to his stomach and went to a hospital for treatment. “After receiving information from the hospital, we recorded Ghogare’s statement and registered a case. We traced and arrested both Jadhav and Pingle. Jadhav was in possession of an illegal firearm,” Phadtare said.
