DMK submits horse-trading complaint against TVK to Guv

Chennai: DMK organisational secretary R S Bharathi on Monday submitted yet another complaint to governor R V Arlekar accusing the TVK govt of indulging in horse-trading. The complaint was based on the remarks of former AIADMK minister M R Vijayabhaskar that TVK invited him to join the ruling party.Bharathi said in the complaint that TVK was adopting `anti-constitutional methods’ to get AIADMK’s MLAs resign. “TVK is pursuing a systematic, twin-pronged strategy to alter the composition of TN assembly, not through constitutional and electoral process, but through inducement, by giving promises of electoral support, monetary assistance and govt favour to legislators who agree to resign. It was also done through coercion by registration of criminal cases and arresting MLAs who refuse to resign,” Bharathi said.DMK had lodged its first complaint on July 1 to the governor based on MDMK general secretary Vaiko’s remarks that chief minister C Joseph Vijay had assured MDMK that he would ensure their victory in the bypoll if the two MLAs of the party resign. DMK had also submitted the same complaint to DVAC, urging action on TVK.Later, speaking to reporters in DMK headquarters in Chennai, Bharathi said if the governor doesn’t initiate action, DMK would approach the court.
