Panaji: The State Information Commission has disposed of an appeal under the RTI Act after the Candolim panchayat provided an RTI applicant information dating back to three decades ago.In 2025, Nazario Paul Savio D’Souza sought information under the RTI Act with regard to a building in Candolim from the panchayat. When he was not satisfied with the information provided, he went in first appeal before the first appellate authority and later in second appeal before the commission.After filing the appeal, the commission directed the public information officer to allow him to physically inspect files to ascertain availability of such old records, and if available, seek copies of identified documents.He then received the information dating back to the years 1993 and 1994 and sought certified copies of 17 documents. The commission then disposed of his appeal after the PIO complied with directions during the course of proceedings and the appellant received the information.
