PUNE: A court in Vadgaon Maval on Friday remanded Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary to 14 days of magistrate custody in the murder case of 25-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal.Judicial magistrate First Class AM Vibhute remanded the duo to magistrate custody after their police custody ended on Thursday.Earlier in the day, police took Goyal to a hillock in Lullanagar, where investigators said she and Chaudhary had allegedly rehearsed the murder before pushing Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18.According to superintendent of police Sandeep Singh Gill, the couple allegedly rehearsed the act several times to ensure the murder could be carried out without leaving witnesses or evidence.“They rehearsed to refine their act. They believed it would help them execute the crime perfectly and ensure there would be no witness or evidence in the form of a third person,” Gill said.Police said the secluded hill near Bibvewadi-Kondhwa Road was a regular meeting place for the duo before they allegedly hatched the conspiracy.Cops claim Chaudhary practised pushing Goyal during the rehearsals and that the two also worked out a signal to execute the plan. According to police, Goyal told investigators she signalled Chaudhary by sitting down when she and Agarwal reached the cliff edge at Lohagad Fort, following which Chaudhary allegedly pushed the victim into the gorge.Police also took Goyal to her residence in Pune’s Market Yard area and recovered the clothes she allegedly wore on the day of the incident. Investigators said they have gathered substantial digital and technical evidence, which is being analysed and cross-verified.Pune Rural Police have also moved the Vadgaon Maval court seeking permission to conduct polygraph (lie detector) tests on both accused. Officials said the court will first issue notices and record the consent of the accused before deciding on the request.Police allege Goyal and Chaudhary murdered Agarwal because he had become an obstacle to their relationship. Agarwal and Goyal were engaged and were scheduled to marry in November. The investigation has also revealed that Agarwal had repeatedly expressed concerns to his family over Goyal’s closeness to Chaudhary. Police further claim Goyal had earlier sabotaged the couple’s planned pre-wedding trip to Bali.Meanwhile, the Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh (AMGM) condemned objectionable social media posts and memes linking Lohagad Fort to the murder. AMGM president Umesh Zirpe appealed to people to refrain from sharing such content, saying it tarnishes the reputation of the historic trekking destination.
