Jadavpur MLA didn’t help: Plaint over shop ownership

Kolkata: Jadavpur resident Pratima Roy came to Janatar Darbar on Thursday to allege that her shop has been occupied by outsiders, and that she had failed to get it back even after seeking intervention of BJP MLA Sarbari Mukherjee.Roy also alleged that she was beaten up before being evicted from “her own shop”. She said the shop was bought by her late husband, Babla Roy, 25 years ago. She had later moved court to get possession of the shop. When contacted, MLA Mukherjee said the shop owner had given the property to a tenant who, in turn, gave it to Roy on rent. “The owner approached me with documents of ownership and sought our help. We had asked the sub-tenant to vacate the place and resolve the issue amicably. I came to know on Thursday that she had approached the CM at Janatar Darbar. But we have seen the documents of the owner and we are convinced of his claims,” she said.
