Ahmedabad: The city witnessed a cloudy but rain-free Sunday, with the overcast conditions providing relief from the recent wet spell. Maximum and minimum temperatures remained close to normal despite high humidity levels throughout the day.The maximum temperature settled at 31°C, which was 0.9 degree below normal, while the minimum temperature was 25.4°C, in line with the seasonal average. Relative humidity remained above 80% throughout the day.The weather system that triggered heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of north Gujarat and Saurashtra on Saturday has now moved northwards towards Rajasthan. However, Gujarat continues to be influenced by a monsoon trough, an offshore trough, and the possibility of a fresh Western Disturbance from Aug 4.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no rain warnings have been issued from Monday onwards, with only light to moderate showers forecast across the state during the week.Gujarat has so far received 68.5% of its seasonal rainfall. Region-wise, south Gujarat has recorded 95% of its seasonal average, followed by east-central Gujarat at 65%, Saurashtra at 54%, north Gujarat at 50%, and Kutch at 28%.In the 24 hours ending Sunday morning, Morbi received the highest rainfall at 223mm, followed by 194mm in Tankara and 176mm in Dhrangadhra.State govt data showed that 25 dams were at full capacity, while another 27 reservoirs were between 70% and 100% full. The Sardar Sarovar dam stood at 76% of its storage capacity.On Sunday, Rajkot recorded 69mm of rainfall till 6pm, followed by 38mm in Paddhari of Rajkot district and 33mm in Deodar. Across Gujarat, 179 talukas received at least 1mm of rainfall till 6pm.
