PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the 15th edition of the Goa Marathi Film Festival (GMFF) in Panaji on Friday.Speaking at the event, he said. “The bond between Marathi and Konkani is unbreakable as Goans very fondly watch Marathi serials and cinema. Goa is a popular film shooting location thanks to the single window clearance through the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG). Goa has history dating from the Kadambas to the freedom struggle against the Portuguese. The renovated Aguada jail’s museum showcases many of such historical aspects of Goa. Efforts must be made to showcase this side of Goa because Goa is not just about bars and beaches or drug-related stories,” he said.At the inauguration, Sawant presented the prestigious Krutadnyata Puraskar to veteran actor, Mohan Joshi in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema.MLA and Vice Chairman of the Entertainment Society of Goa, Delilah Lobo, Film Director, Mahesh Manjrekar, and several distinguished personalities from the Marathi film industry were also present. The festival will continue until August 9.
