IIM-A PGP class of 2026: 61% of 414 students are engineers, 31% of students women

Ahmedabad: IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on Wednesday inducted the new batch of its flagship PGP programme and PGP-FABM programme with 414 and 44 students respectively. About 61% of PGP students are engineers, whereas 31% of the batch consists of female students.Encouraging students to leverage technology and AI responsibly, Prof Ankur Sinha, chairperson, PGP, noted that learning—not merely task completion—must remain the priority. He assured students of the institute’s unwavering support for their academic, personal, and mental well-being, while urging them to actively participate in campus life and make the most of their time at IIM-A.The average work experience in the batch is 24 months, and approximately 77% of the batch holds prior work experience in PGP, mentioned in a release by IIM-A.All students of the PGP-FABM possess an academic background in agriculture or allied sectors, with 39% female students. Their average work experience is 16 months, and about one-third hold prior work experience. Average age of students remains 23 years in both programmes.Out of the total, 17 are persons with disabilities (PwDs). The IIM-A release indicated providing several facilities, including Apple iPads, automotive wheelchairs, specialised software, high-resolution cameras for laptops, and any other specific requirements for their integration in classrooms.Prof Bharat Bhasker, director of IIM-A, underlined the establishment of the School of AI at IIM-A to lead the AI transformation.
