Ahmedabad: A farmer was shown as dead using a fake certificate for land. It turned out that the person obtaining the fake document was none other than his own son. He allegedly used the fake certificate to create bogus land records and facilitate transfer of the agricultural land in Shela.The farmer’s other son filed a complaint with Bopal police after a Sanand court accepted a B-summary report, observing that the original landholder had not died in 1985 as claimed. He told police that the land originally belonged to his father and that his brother had allegedly obtained a fake death certificate showing that their father had died on April 15, 1985.The probe led Bopal cops to a case filed in Dec 2020 regarding bogus documents created using the farmer’s fake death certificate. That complaint stated that fictitious owners and farmers were named in land documents registered at the Sanand sub-registrar’s office and that the thumb impressions and signatures therein were forged.The investigation found that one of the accused in that case had no role in the alleged fraud, but had been implicated by the farmer’s son. Police then submitted a B-summary report, which the Sanand court approved on Jan 29, 2025, with prosecution.The man implicated in the 2020 case, too, has lodged a complaint against the farmer’s son and others, including persons allegedly involved in producing bogus farmers and presenting them before the sub-registrar’s office.
