Mumbai: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday trapped a BMC water meter supervisor for allegedly accepting a Rs 40,000 bribe from a 50-year-old complainant for water meter installation and reconnection of water supply to shop units in Andheri West.The accused was identified as Vinod Rathod, Water Meter Supervisor, K/West Ward, BMC. ACB also named Nandan More, Water Meter Inspector at the same ward, as a wanted accused.According to ACB, the complainant had applied to K/West Ward office on July 20 for the work. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 1.2 lakh, which was later negotiated to Rs 80,000. An initial payment of Rs 40,000 was demanded before the work was carried out.During verification on July 29, More allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 and instructed the complainant to hand over the amount to Rathod. ACB subsequently laid a trap near Top 10 Mobile Shop at Kasamali Shakur Jagmagiya Chowk, SV Road, Andheri West.Rathod allegedly accepted Rs 40,000 in the presence of panch witnesses, following which he was taken into custody at 6.20 pm. ACB is initiating the process of registering an offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
