Ahmedabad: A 43-year-old accountant from Manek Chowk has filed a complaint with Khadia police after allegedly losing Rs 49,976 through fraudulent transactions on two credit cards issued in his name, including one that was allegedly obtained using his personal documents without his knowledge.According to the complaint, officials from Bank of Baroda’s New Cloth Market branch contacted him on July 13 and offered a free credit card with a credit limit of Rs 50,000. He subsequently visited the branch and submitted copies of his Aadhaar and PAN cards to complete the application process.The credit card was delivered to his residence on July 22. On July 31, he downloaded the BOBCARD mobile application from the Google Play Store to activate the card. After entering the card details and an OTP, he successfully completed the registration process.On Aug 12, during a visit to the bank to check the card’s status, he was informed that Rs 42,932 had been transferred from the card on Aug 8, followed by another transaction of Rs 1,494 on Aug 10. The bank immediately blocked the card after the unauthorised transactions came to light.The complainant further alleged that an unidentified person had used his documents to obtain another primary credit card in his name. Through this second card, Rs 5,550 was allegedly transferred in three separate transactions on Aug 16.The victim registered a complaint on the cybercrime helpline on Sept 10. Khadia police have launched an investigation and are tracing the transactions to identify those involved in the fraud.
