NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old govt school teacher and two associates have been arrested for allegedly plotting to kill his wife and orchestrating a shooting at their residence in Baprola, west Delhi, police said.The woman sustained multiple gunshot injuries in the Sept 13 attack and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dwarka. Her condition is stated to be stable.Police identified the accused as Sandeep Kumar (28), a resident of Baprola Vihar and husband of the victim, Mitthu alias Deepak (26) of Najafgarh, and Akash (26) of Nand Nagri.According to investigators, Sandeep allegedly plotted the attack following prolonged marital disputes. Police said Deepak and Akash entered the woman’s house in Nangli Dairy on the pretext of collecting or repairing a printer. After spending nearly 45 minutes inside, Akash allegedly opened fire at the woman while she was on the staircase.Police said multiple rounds were fired and three bullets struck the victim before the two accused fled.A case was registered at Ranhola police station under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Arms Act.During the investigation, police arrested Deepak and Akash. Their interrogation allegedly revealed that the shooting had been carried out at Sandeep’s behest, following which he was arrested.Investigators alleged that Sandeep struck a deal worth Rs 3.5 lakh to eliminate his wife and deliberately stayed out of Delhi on the day of the attack to avoid suspicion. He had allegedly informed his wife that two men would visit the house to collect or repair a printer.Police said Deepak and Akash had agreed to carry out the attack in return for money. Sandeep allegedly paid them Rs 1 lakh in advance, with the remaining amount to be paid later.Police said marital discord had existed between the couple for several years.
