Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Saturday launched ‘Ghar Ghar Samvidhan’, an initiative under which students in civic schools will be taught one Article of the Indian Constitution every day.The programme was inaugurated at a PCMC Public School in Walhekarwadi. Under the initiative, daily sessions explaining an Article of the Constitution and its significance will be conducted in Marathi, Hindi, English and Urdu-medium schools. The civic body said the campaign was expected to reach nearly four lakh students and, through them, around eight lakh parents.Besides daily lessons, schools will organise collective reading of the Preamble and activities to spread awareness about constitutional values and encourage participation by parents. The education department has also formed a coordination committee to oversee implementation of the programme. Noor Khan Pathan, a constitutional scholar, will provide free training to teachers on explaining constitutional provisions in a simple and engaging manner.Pathan said the Constitution was not merely a legal document, but the foundation of India’s social, economic, political and cultural progress. He said explaining one Article per day would help students better understand their rights, duties and responsibilities as citizens.
