Colva: The South Goa sessions court has granted bail to murder accused Ramesh Talavara alias Doddamani, observing that there is insufficient evidence on record to justify his continued detention.Additional sessions judge Sharmila A Patil, while allowing the bail application, noted that the accused had remained in judicial custody since his arrest and that the principal prosecution witnesses had already been examined. The court held that there was no sufficient evidence on record to warrant his continued incarceration.According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in Oct 2023, when the accused allegedly murdered Philip Kispotta due to previous enmity. It is alleged that Talavara lured the deceased to the bushes behind Collem railway station at Maidawada on the pretext of consuming liquor. Once there, he allegedly assaulted Kispotta with a wooden stick and a leather belt, compressed his neck, and also inflicted fist and kick blows, resulting in his death.In her order, judge Patil observed that the accused had been in custody since his arrest, the main witnesses had already been examined, and there was no sufficient evidence on record to justify his continued detention. Accordingly, the court granted him bail on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of the like amount, subject to other conditions.
