Torrent Pharma Q1 PAT rises 3% to Rs 566 crore as revenue jumps 55%

Ahmedabad: Torrent Pharmaceuticals on Thursday reported a 3% year-on-year rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 566 crore for the first quarter of FY27. The company’s revenue surged 55% to Rs 4,921 crore, aided by growth in its base business and the integration of JB’s business.The company reported exceptional items of Rs 21 crore during the quarter. The base business posted revenue of Rs 3,720 crore, up 17% year on year, while operating EBITDA increased 20% to Rs 1,240 crore with a margin of 33.3%.India remained the biggest growth driver. Domestic revenue rose 19% to Rs 2,157 crore, outpacing the Indian Pharmaceutical Market’s 12% growth, according to AIOCD PharmaTrac. Torrent said it ranked first in the domestic cardiac market during the quarter. Its generic semaglutide portfolio captured a 36% market share across oral and injectable formulations.International business was mixed. Revenue from Brazil rose 27% to Rs 277 crore, while US revenue increased 36% to Rs 418 crore, supported by new product launches and one-time opportunities. Germany revenue grew 3% to Rs 318 crore, although the company said supply disruptions at a third-party supplier and lower tender offtake continued to weigh on growth.The JB business, acquired by Torrent earlier this year, reported revenue of Rs 1,201 crore, up 10%, while operating EBITDA climbed 34% to Rs 424 crore. Its India prescription business grew 13%, while international business, comprising the US, emerging markets and contract development and manufacturing operations (CDMO), rose 12%.
