Pune: The Chakan North police on Tuesday arrested a history-sheeter and recovered seven stolen motorcycles worth Rs 3.5 lakh from his possession.The accused, Ashok Sonawane, a resident of Ahilyanagar district, had allegedly stolen the motorcycles parked outside companies in the Chakan MIDC area.A police team led by senior inspector Jitendra Kadam detected five vehicle theft cases registered with the Pimpri Chinchwad police and two with the Pune Rural police.An officer from the Chakan North police said the accused used duplicate keys to steal the motorcycles. He would ride the stolen vehicles to Ahilyanagar district and sell them in rural areas at throwaway prices.“We suspect his involvement in more vehicle theft cases. We are interrogating him,” the officer said.
