Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday said that TVK govt commenced its fight against corruption on a strong footing but has slowed down.Releasing PMK’s 24th shadow budget in Chennai, Anbumani said TVK should speed up its action against corruption. “People chose TVK govt as an alternative to DMK. It was was initially swift in acting against corruption but has now become slow. It should crackdown on the corrupt and retrieve the looted money,’’ he said.Anbumani said govt should initiate legal action in corruption cases relating to the highways, public works and mines departments. Five special courts should be set up to fast track cases related to corruption, he added.He also called for mandatory annual disclosure of assets by the chief minister, ministers and MLAs on Jan 1 every year. Lokayukta should be empowered to prosecute the corrupt, he urged.On the shadow budget, Anbumani projected Tamil Nadu’s revenue receipts at ₹6,71,891 crore for 2026-27. He claimed the state could mobilise ₹2,17,945 crore in non-tax revenue through efficient management of mineral resources, adding that preventing illegal sand mining could have generated ₹40,000 crore during the previous DMK govt.He also backed retaining select welfare schemes, including free bus travel in urban areas, saying they improved mobility, purchasing power and economic growth. He welcomed TVK govt’s decision to name the breakfast scheme after K Kamaraj and urged chief minister C Joseph Vijay to actively attract more global investments to the state.
