Metro inspects City Centre station pillar crack
The Green Line station was declared safe and operational

Kolkata: A longitudinal crack was detected on an exterior supporting concrete structure of one of Green Line’s City Centre metro station accesses on Wednesday. The discovery sparked concerns, bringing back memories of the Blue Line’s southern terminal Kavi Subhas station being shut down on July 28 last year after cracks were detected in one of the platforms.Metro Railway started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the crack. Based on the report, restoration will start, officials said. Metro engineers promptly inspected the site and assured the public that the structure remains safe and operations will continue as normal. They said that a crack reported on a concrete structure supporting one of the escalators appeared only on the outer cladding and not the main structural column, declaring the Green Line operational.
