Panaji: The Goa Investment Promotion Board (IPB) on Monday approved 14 investment proposals worth approximately Rs 622 crore that are expected to generate around 3,180 jobs, officials said.Chief minister Pramod Sawant, who chaired the board meeting, said the proposals reinforce Goa’s position as an attractive destination for sustainable and high-value investments. The board considered proposals on industrial land as well as private land that could be notified as investment promotion areas.Sawant said the board also deliberated on the proposed large-scale industries incentive scheme, formulated through extensive consultations with industry stakeholders, prospective investors, and govt officials, and decided to forward it for further evaluation and approval.Under the Goa Investment Promotion and Industrial Growth Policy 2022, the IPB has proposed the Goa Customised Packaged Scheme of Incentives for Large-Scale Manufacturing Projects 2026 to attract large-scale manufacturing investments, support industrial expansion, generate employment, promote value addition, strengthen local supply chains, and encourage environmentally responsible industrialisation in the state. The proposed scheme, which will undergo further evaluation, provides a performance-linked framework for the approval, sanction, disbursement, and recovery of incentives for eligible large-scale manufacturing projects. It will apply to both new and expansion projects.A new project must involve either a minimum eligible fixed capital investment of Rs 200 crore or direct employment for at least 500 people, with a minimum of 60% Goan employees. An expansion project must involve either an additional eligible fixed capital investment of Rs 200 crore or create at least 200 additional direct jobs, with a minimum of 60% Goan employees, an IPB official said.Sawant said govt aims to create an industry-friendly ecosystem that fosters innovation, attracts quality investments, and generates employment. The approved projects span automotive components, optical instruments manufacturing, electronics and technology development centres, advanced fabrication units, hospitality, educational institutions, and global capability centre (GCC) infrastructure.
