MUMBAI: A fire broke out on the first floor of the ground-plus-one-storey Byculla police station building on Hansraj Marg in Byculla (East) on Sunday evening.The incident was reported at 8.24pm, following which fire brigade personnel, along with officials from BEST, Mumbai Police and the civic ward office, rushed to the spot to contain the blaze.According to preliminary information, the fire was confined to the first floor of the police station.No injuries have been reported.Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Jayant Meena said the fire has been extinguished and that preliminary findings point to a short circuit as the likely cause.“The fire has been doused by the fire brigade. Prima facie, it was caused by a short circuit. Further necessary action is being taken,” Meena said.Investigation in this regard is currently underway.Further details are awaited.
