PUNE: Amravati’s Badnera (1.23 lakh), Pune’s Hadapsar (1.22 lakh), Thane’s Ovala Majiwada (1.18 lakh) and Mumbai’s Malad West (1.11 lakh) are among the 15 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra with the maximum discrepancies in the SIR list.Interestingly voters in three constituencies in Nagpur are set to receive over a lakh notices, including Nagpur North (1.08 lakh), Nagpur East (1.07 lakh) and Nagpur West (1.07 lakh).Notices are being issued to voters whose forms were not mapped to the earlier electoral roll as well as those whose enumeration forms reported anomalies or discrepancies (details including name, age, address) compared to those on the electoral roll.The assembly constituency of Badnera in Amravati has reported 1.08 lakh voters with anomalies, the highest in the state.The other constituencies with a large number of voters with anomalies include Kamthi in Nagpur (66,964), Nagpur North (61,248), Nalasopara in Palghar (55,875), Solapur South (50,978) and Malad West (49,703).The Nalasopara constituency has reported 1.04 lakh unmapped electors, highest in the state. This is followed by Hadapsar in Pune (85,853), Thane’s Ovala Majiwada (75,808) and Kalyan rural (71,544), Pune’s Khadakwasala (65,708) and Thane’s Airoli (65,180).Across the state, 62.5 lakh electors on the draft SIR roll have been reported with anomalies and 59.7 lakh are unmapped.Experts said the concentration in urban and rapidly expanding belts reflects higher population mobility and address changes, and expanding areas are witnessing a large number of unmapped voters, especially in the urban pockets.So far, 2 crore voters in the state were excluded in the SIR draft roll. Now another 1.2 crore voters will receive notices for documents and face scrutiny. As a result, the number of exclusions may increase.Electors on the draft list who will receive notices because their forms are unmapped or have anomalies, will have until Oct 29 to respond and provide the documents.Those in the unmapped category will have to provide proof of themselves or their relatives being part of the 2002-04 electoral roll through one of the 11 documents listed by the Election Commission of India. The final electoral roll of the SIR in the state will be published on Nov 4.A senior election official said the process of submitting documents addressing anomalies has been made simpler. BLOs have been told to collect required documents but voters can upload them online through the CEO website.They can log in using the EPIC number or notice reference number, receive an OTP on their registered cellphone number and upload the documents.
