Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was yet to decide whether to appear before speaker J C D Prabhakar on July 30 in connection with the anti-defection proceedings against four rebel MLAs, senior party leader Agri S S Krishnamurthy said on Monday.After meeting the speaker, Krishnamurthy said the AIADMK chief would take a call after examining the documents provided by the speaker. EPS was asked to appear before the speaker on July 30 to explain his complaint against the four former AIADMK MLAs who quit and joined TVK.“We have asked for copies of the replies submitted by the four MLAs to the show-cause notices issued in the disqualification proceedings. The party leader will submit his rejoinder only after examining their responses,” he said.“We have already submitted three representations on behalf of our general secretary, urging the speaker to expedite the proceedings and initiate action against the four MLAs under the anti-defection law,” Krishnamurthy said, referring to their meetings with speaker on July 7, 17 and 21.The AIADMK has sought the disqualification of the four legislators, alleging that they defected to the ruling TVK after getting elected on the AIADMK symbol. The party has also accused the ruling dispensation of engineering the defections through “horse-trading”.
