ASI with L-Division traffic police held for taking Rs 10,000 bribe to close case in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: An alleged demand for Rs 10,000 to settle an accident-related matter landed an Ahmedabad traffic police officer in an ACB trap on Tuesday.ASI Mukesh Rajput of the L-Division traffic police station was caught at a tea stall near the Subhash Bridge police chowky, the agency said. He had allegedly demanded the money from a complainant whose client faced an accident-related application.According to the ACB, the application had been filed at the L Division station, and Rajput was assigned to investigate it.Rajput allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to close the matter and place the application on record without further action.After refusing to pay, the complainant contacted the Ahmedabad city ACB through its helpline. ACB officials verified the complaint and laid a trap on Tuesday.During the operation at the tea stall, the ASI allegedly accepted the money from the complainant and was caught by the ACB team.The ACB registered a case against him under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
