Ahmedabad: A three-storey house collapsed in Khadia amid rain on Sunday afternoon, killing a 45-year-old woman and injuring three others who were trapped under the debris. The collapse occurred at Laxminarayan ni Pol near Mayabhai ni Bari, behind Panchkuva Darwaza. The ground-plus-two-storey structure collapsed completely, trapping four people inside, fire department officials said.The deceased, identified as Sonal Rana, was the owner of the house and lived on the top floor. She was among those pulled out after fire and emergency services personnel cleared the debris. She was rushed to LG Hospital, where doctors declared her dead, officials said.The other three occupants — Janvi Rana, 27, Parth Rana, 23, and Asha, 42 — were rescued alive and shifted to hospitals in ambulances for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.According to the fire department’s control room, an emergency call about the house collapse was received from Khadia Char Rasta. Fire and emergency teams from Shahpur and other stations were dispatched to the narrow lane near Panchkuva Darwaja.Officials said two of the occupants were rescued initially, while the remaining two, including the woman who died, were pulled out after personnel removed the debris.The house was reportedly in a dilapidated condition. The collapse took place while the occupants, including the owner and tenants, were inside the structure.The incident came amid rainfall in the city, though officials were yet to establish whether the rain contributed to the structural failure.A rescue operation was carried out to ensure no other person remained trapped beneath the debris. Further inquiry into the condition of the building and the circumstances leading to the collapse is underway.
